Longevity Starts at Home · For families & schools
The healthiest habits
are learned together.
A physician-led programme that turns the science of a long, healthy life into small shared rituals, for parents, children and the schools that shape them.
Why start early
Healthspan begins long before midlife.
Children learn how to eat, sleep, move and manage big feelings by watching the adults around them. The routines a family builds today become the defaults they carry for decades.
81%
of adolescents worldwide do not meet the recommended level of daily physical activity.
Guthold et al., Lancet Child & Adolescent Health, 2020 (WHO data)
9–12 hrs
of sleep a night is recommended for children aged 6 to 12, the foundation of focus, mood and growth.
American Academy of Sleep Medicine, 2016
60 min
of moderate-to-vigorous activity a day, on average, is what the WHO recommends for children and teens.
World Health Organization, 2020 guidelines
The approach
Six pillars.
One household.
The six pillars of lifestyle medicine, translated into rituals small enough to keep on a school night.
01 · NUTRITION
The family table
Food as medicine, shared: more plants, more colour, more meals eaten together.
02 · PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
Movement as play
Active play, walks and strength that fit into ordinary family days.
03 · RESTORATIVE SLEEP
The bedtime rhythm
Calm evenings, consistent routines and screens that switch off on time.
04 · STRESS MANAGEMENT
Calm, co-regulated
Breath and emotional language that help children, and parents, return to calm.
05 · SOCIAL CONNECTION
Time that connects
Small, screen-free moments of attention that build belonging at home.
06 · HEALTHY CHOICES
Modelled, not lectured
Children copy what they see. Healthy choices start with the adults around them.
Food as medicine
The kitchen is where longevity begins.
Nutrition is the pillar families practise most often, several times a day. In hands-on healthy cooking classes, parents learn the science of plant-forward eating and leave with recipes their children will actually ask for again.
Children who help prepare food are more willing to taste it. So we cook, blend, plate and share, turning the evidence into breakfasts, lunchboxes and treats that work on a busy week.
The book behind the programme
Happy Yogis
My award-winning children’s book, inspired by my own two children, gives young readers simple ways to move, breathe and understand their feelings. It is the starting point for every school visit and a take-home companion for families.
As featured in Sharjah24 for the “Reading Happy Yogis” session at the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival.
Parents & children together
Family workshops
Hands-on sessions where families learn and practise the pillars side by side, and leave with a plan for home.
For schools
School programmes
Workshops, assemblies and author visits on movement, breath and emotional wellbeing. Graduation programme: a signed book for every graduate, two sessions included.
For parent communities
Parent talks
Evidence-based talks for PTAs, parent networks and workplace parent groups. Practical, warm and never preachy.
In schools
Children learn to move, breathe and rest.
Movement, breathwork and relaxation woven into the school day: in classrooms, assembly halls and outdoors. Short, playful practices that teachers can keep using long after the visit.
Delivered at Safa British School, Safa Community School, Redwood and nurseries across Dubai.
